Is WordPress killing your SEO?

Head to your WordPress dashboard, then navigate to Privacy Settings.. You will be faced with two options:
These two options determine your entire future with Google. One will allow your site to be indexed, the other will block your entire site from Google and will prevent any links to your site showing up in search results.
If you have noticed that your not showing up in search results, this may be the reason. Check your Privacy Settings in the WordPress Dashboard.
WordPress 2.9 released
Posted on 23. Dec, 2009 by conorp in Announcements, Blog
WordPress 2.9 has been released and adds several new features:
-
Built-in image editing – This feature allows you to do basic image editing to your uploads. This includes cropping, resizing, rotating, among other things.
Easier embedded content – Using the new oEmbed standard, embedding content is now as easy as pasting a URL. Support for YouTube, DailyMotion, Flickr, WordPress.tv, among many others.
Global trash feature – The Delete button is now replaced with a Trash button, which acts like all other Trash cans you have used. This gives you a second chance to recover posts or comments you may have deleted by accident.
Bulk plugin upgrade – It is now possible to bulk upgrade plugins automatically, instead of upgrading one by one. This also takes advantage of the community-powered plugin compatibility data from the plugin directory, which prevents you from using a plugin which could possibly break your site.
WordPress 2.9 has some exiting new features. Upgrade today. Your WordPress upgrades are in good hands. We have upgraded WordPress many times, and take a full backup of your site just in case anything ever went wrong.

Why you should backup your WordPress site
Posted on 18. Dec, 2009 by conorp in Blog
Backing up your WordPress content is important, although many don’t do it. Every day things go wrong, servers melt down and human error can cause errors. In today’s screencast I explain the value in our backup feature, which its available in both our Advanced and Professional plans. I also tell a story of how all the data on Conorp.com was lost.
WordPress backups are our specialty. We can take a 1 time backup or do consistent weekly backups. Remember we can change anything to suit your needs.

Why you should move away from WordPress.com
Posted on 17. Dec, 2009 by conorp in Blog
WordPress.com is restricted in many ways, and the so called ‘free’ host can become quite expensive once you purchase all the needed extras. The other day I posted a guide on How to move From WordPress.com to WordPress.org. Its quite a good read by the way, I would recommended reading it. In this guide I told you how to move from WordPress.com to WordPress.org, but I felt that I didn’t show you why you would want to do it.
Here is todays screencast:
Want to move from WordPress.com to WordPress.org? Let us do it for you. We will Upload WordPress, Export the posts from your WordPress.com blog, Import the posts into your new self hosted WordPress.org blog, and even upload the same theme you were using at WordPress.com.

Well it has been a long time coming (well for me anyway) but I have finally officially launched the site. Features are broken up into plans but they are purely suggestive. Only want a specific feature of a plan? Such as WordPress installed? No problem, Contact Us
Now as an early Christmas gift, I thought I would celebrate the launch of the site with a sale. A massive sale that is. Simply mention “take off 50″ for a massive 50% off any plan. That means you could get our basic plan, which includes the installation of WordPress, 2 plugins and a basic ping list for only $25.
What are you waiting for? The sale wont last long.
What we actually do
Posted on 11. Dec, 2009 by conorp in Announcements, Blog
What do we actually do here at WP Kick Start?
I have had people ask me what we actually do here, or plan to do once the site is released. I’m going to try an explain what we will be doing here.
We know that starting a blog is hard. As the slogan of the site states we “kick start” your WordPress blog. This can be anything from installing WordPress, to setting up themes and plugins. Our aim is to set WordPress up so you can just start publishing content.
We have flexible plans to allow you to get specific things done. Only want a few basic things done? No problem, go with our basic plan. Want a few extra things added? Go with our advanced plan
Our service could also be useful to developers. We can install WordPress and any plugins and/or themes you would like. That way you can just start on the work requested of you, and you dont need to waste time with the foundations.
So now do you see the value in our service? If not, feel free to post a question in the comment section of this post.
